Schrill, schräg und voller Phantasie sind die Bilder von Clint Adam Smyth. Sie bezeugen den ausgesprochenen Widerwillen des Fotografen, sich in Konventionen und Schubladen pressen zu lassen und aus diesem Grund verweigert er sich auch einer puren Reflexion der Realität. So dienen ihm Nixen und Fabelwesen genauso als thematische Vorlage, wie er auch die Ironie oder Satire als gestalterische Mittel einsetzt. Die einzige Konstante in seinem thematisch breitgefächerten Oeuvre ist die künstlerische Forderung an sich selbst, sich nicht zu wiederholen, sondern mit jeder Session und jeder Aufnahme etwas vollkommen Neues und künstlerisch Einzigartiges zu erschaffen.

Clint graduated from the four year
photographic arts program at the Alberta College of Art & Design. Upon graduation he received a scholarship to study photography and art history in Florence, Italy. From Italy he moved on to Stockholm, Sweden, where he worked as a photographic assistant. Since his return to Canada in spring of 1993, he has worked as a commercial and fine-art photographer. In the past he has shot everything from fashion spreads and album covers to corporate and industrial work. Recently, Clint has been internationally published by UK publishers RotoVision in their book guide to professional lighting techniques. Clint currently resides in Toronto, and works with clients both locally and internationally. In Clint's spare (!?!) time he works on his own artistic projects, including a show he completed three years ago entitled "Space Chicks", a 50's-style futuristic fashion series documenting the lives of space women on their home planet. Clint's last show "Pulp Culture", was based on 1950's trash/pulp fiction. Both have shown throughout Canada Currently Clint is working on a series depicting the astrological signs in photographic images. So far, the series is about half complete and should be finished soon. |
